QR code for your resume

A small code in the header sends a recruiter to your portfolio, LinkedIn profile or full CV, or saves your details to their phone. Made in your browser; we don't store anything.

Static code: free forever, no watermark.

How to make it

  1. Choose what it opens: your portfolio or personal site, your LinkedIn profile, a PDF of the full resume with a stable link, or a contact card (the Contact tab) that saves your name, phone and email.
  2. Paste the link or fill in the contact fields below. Keep the code plain: black on white scans best on a printed page.
  3. Download the SVG and place it in the header of the resume at about 2 cm (0.8 in). Test it from the printed page and from a screen before sending.

What recruiters actually scan

A code is useful when the thing it opens can't go on paper: a design portfolio, a GitHub profile, a demo video, a case-study page. It isn't a substitute for the link written out, since many resumes are read on screen, so write the address next to the code as well.

Keep it current after you've sent it

Resumes get forwarded and sit in inboxes for months. A dynamic code lets you re-point the code at your latest portfolio or an updated PDF without re-sending anything, and it shows you when someone scanned it.

Your details stay with you

Static codes, including contact cards, are generated in your browser. The name, phone number and email you type never reach our servers. The only things we keep are what you choose to put behind a dynamic code in your account.

When to use a dynamic code

Use a dynamic code instead of a static one if the link might change. You print the code once, and change where it goes from your account at any time. You also see how many people scanned it, from which city and on which phone.

Frequently asked questions

Should the resume QR code open a link or a contact card?

A link, if you have a portfolio or profile worth showing. A contact card (vCard) if you mainly want the recruiter to save your number and email in one tap. You can put one of each on the page.

Where on the resume does the code go?

Top right of the header, next to your contact details, at about 2 cm (0.8 in). Leave white space around it and don't print it over a background color.

Does QR Code Desk store my resume or details?

Not from the free generator: the code is made in your browser. If you upload a PDF behind a dynamic code, that file is public to anyone with the link, so don't include anything you wouldn't put on the resume itself.
