Free, no sign-up, no watermark. The sign is made in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us. The print dialog also offers "Save as PDF".
How to make it
- Put your menu online: a page on your website, a Google Doc shared with "anyone with the link", or a PDF. With a free QR Code Desk account you can upload the PDF behind a dynamic code and replace it whenever prices change.
- Paste the menu link above. The sign maker builds the code and the table tent; edit the headline and colors to match your place.
- Print on card stock, fold, and test with two phones before printing the batch.
Static or dynamic menu code?
A static code has the menu link baked into the pattern. It's free and never expires, but if the link changes, the printed tents are dead. A dynamic code points to a short link you control: you print once, and whenever the menu moves you paste the new link (or upload the new PDF) in your account, and every table follows. You also see scans by day, so you know whether the lunch crowd actually opens the menu. 3 dynamic codes are free, and they keep working even if you cancel.
PDF menu or web page?
A mobile-friendly web page is easier to read on a phone. A PDF is fine if that's what you have: keep it under a few MB, one column, large type. Our PDF QR code feature keeps the PDF with the code, so a moved Google Drive file can't break your tents.
What to print
Table tents for every table, a Letter sign at the bar or register, and a 4 x 6 card for the window or the delivery bag. All three come out of the sign maker above with the same code.
Make scanning easy
Keep the code at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, dark on a light background, with white space around it. Say what guests get: "Scan to see our menu" works better than "Scan me".
When to use a dynamic code
Use a dynamic code instead of a static one if the link might change. You print the sign once, and change where the code goes from your account at any time. You also see how many people scanned it, from which city and on which phone. Create the dynamic code first, then paste its short link into the sign maker above.
3 dynamic codes free. No card needed. Sign in with Google or a link by email.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a QR code menu?
Put your menu online, paste its link above, and print the table tent. The code is free and needs no sign-up. If the menu link may change, use a dynamic code so you can update it without reprinting.
Can I update the menu after printing the QR code?
Only with a dynamic code. Static codes have the link inside the pattern. A dynamic code from QR Code Desk points to a short link you can re-point at any time, or you can replace the uploaded PDF.
Do I need an app to make or scan a QR code menu?
No. The code is made here in your browser, and guests scan it with the camera app on any recent iPhone or Android phone.
Does a QR code menu expire?
Static codes never expire. Dynamic codes from QR Code Desk keep redirecting to their last destination even if you cancel your plan.
What about guests without a smartphone?
Keep a few printed menus behind the counter. A QR code menu is a convenience, not a replacement for a readable paper menu.
